Good news: struggling beauty label, Stila, has found a helping hand in Patriarch Partners LLC. A deal between the two should be finalized today if everything goes according to plan.
WWD reports: "According to several sources, it's been a rocky several weeks for the brand, which is said to have furloughed its entire workforce the last week in March due to the company's inability to make payroll. Former owner Sun Capital Partners, which had acquired the brand from the Estee Lauder Cos., is said to have pulled the plug on the company's financing at that time. The deal was confirmed late Sunday afternoon by Stila ceo Deanna Kangas and Patriarch Partners spokesperson Taylor Griffin."
As of now, Stila's website boasts that its down for "routine maintenance" and orders placed between the dates of March 23rd - 24th may have been canceled. Yeah. Suffice it to say, the makeup company needed this financial assist from PP pretty badly. Meanwhile, until Stila gets its online shop up and running again, its Barbie makeup tins can be purchased at Sephora. May I suggest the "1980 Foxy Doll?"
The news that my favorite new model, Arlenis Sosa, had just been tapped by Lancome to be a face for the beauty brand led me to Sephora.com, checking out all of the Juicy Tubes and nail paints Lancome has to offer this season.
And guess what I stumbled upon? The super ultra coveted amazing spectacular life-changing Oscillation - Vibrating Infinite Power mascara.
It sold-out in six hours when it was released on July 1st in a limited amount. Unfortunately, you can't purchase the $34 tube of black eye goo just yet on Sephora, but you can sign-up for a email update that will alert you when its available.
So, you can have a head start the next time the computer nerds add the product to the site again. Phew. Now, you can finally sleep well once again.
Don't Go There, Meet For Drinks, I'm With Brad, Never Enough Shoes, Metro Chic and Run With It.
No, these aren't Cosmopolitan cover lines. Although...
Actually, this selection of cheeky titles comes courtesy of Sephora's new line of Nail Polishes with OPI. The collection of 54 "fashion-forward shades" go for $9 each and come free of DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde, the chemical agents that could potentially lead to life-threatening diseases.
"Metro Chic," a neutral gunmetal gray hue, has several beauty editors smitten. Do you really need anymore nail polish this summer? No. But that's never stopped you before from participating in a bit of retail therapy! Personally, my favorite is "Run With It. The polish is bordering on khaki and has flecks of glitter in it, which is always good.
My friend Felicia Sullivan sent me a copy of Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority, a book that covers everything under the sun that pertains to making one look as if Pat McGrath and Guido Palau gave them a once over before heading off to class.
I just finished reading the book and its full of commentary from experts and expensive beauty products that promise to make your lips look plumper, your under eye bags brighter, and your lashes more full and luscious.
And like the beauty junkie (yuppie) that I am, I will be in Sephora soon enough buying into most of these false promises.
Anyways, the most interesting anecdotes come towards the end of the book.
In the appendix, there is a time line of when certain products should making their way into your trash. After the jump check out which beauty items it's about time for you to part from. I know, it's always hard to say good-bye.
