Dr. Martens, do you still them wear them? Of course, that day-glo pair just came through the mail a couple of weeks ago and your favorite fashion magazines and stylists are still using the boots in spreads. If that's the case, then listen up:
UK all-stars -- Vivienne Westwood, Preen, Rick Owens, just to name a few -- have teamed up with the shoe company in an effort to hook up its classic 1460 kicks, which as NYLON reports, was named after the label’s April 1 launch in 1960.
Unfortunately, none of the custom Docs are for sale, at least not to the 'normal' folks, but high resolution images are available here and the regular 1460 shoes can be purchased here.
PS: The ones at left were designed by Jimmy Choo.
If Paulo Melim Andersson didn't due anything else of note for the House of Chloe, he helped the Parisian brand play a crucial role in resurrecting the 90s must-have known as the Dr. Marten by creating those huge military platforms for its Fall '07 collection.
And yeah, models Daisy Lowe and Agyness Deyn could be touted as culprits, too.
Anyways, the shoe is here to stay, at least until London looks to another decade to copy -- which in turn will cause New York hipsters to follow suit -- and Dr. Marten is set on milking this situation for as long as it possibly can.
Style.com reports that the company will be putting on its second online competition that allows customers to create their very own Docs. Those looking for inspiration should check out Chloe Sevigny's Opening Ceremony collection or just run around your house with converse on and a Nirvana CD playing in the background.
Good luck!
