See, we had to give this post a really long title so as to express our unbridled joy for Gilt Groupe's upcoming Christian Louboutin sale.
It will take place this Wednesday, so in approximately two days, and will begin promptly at noon EST. Some of the styles that will be available for purchase include: the Vizu High Bootie (MSRP $970 Gilt Price $478), the High Yoyospina Pump (MSRP $625 Gilt Price $298), the Decoltissimo High Pump (MSRP $575 Gilt Price $288) and the High New JS Pump (MSRP $775 Gilt Price $378).
Are you excited yet? Well, in case you plan on blowing your whole entire rent check this week and don't have a Gilt Groupe invitation here's our personal link.
See you there! Okay, you know what we mean.
Jil Sander will oversee the men's and women's apparel at Japanese retail giant Uniqlo, according to Women's Wear Daily.
Further, Sander will take over the creative reins for all the retailer’s products excluding accessories and children’s wear, the source said. It is understood the Japanese brand and Sander are also working to develop a special Uniqlo collection, bearing the designer’s minimalist look, set to bow for the fall season.
As noted by WWD, Uniqlo’s aesthetic mirrors Sander’s signature minimalism so we're not really sure what to expect when it comes to future designs. Structured pant suits, sleek tops, and smart accessories? Uh, we don't know.
Sander left her namesake line back in 2004, citing creative control issues with the brand's owner, Prada Group, and its chief executive officer, Patrizio Bertelli. Since her departure, rumors had been circulating that she was doing everything from consulting to Gap in Europe to returning back to Prada Group to take back her line from Jil Sander.
Regardless of what comes from this high/low merger, one thing is for certain: Gap is going to have to work that much harder to get customers to consume their affordable basics.
