With the frenzy surrounding First Lady Michelle Obama's sartorial choices, specifically, her lovely off-the-shoulder Jason Wu gown, it was only a matter of time before someone began to cash in on all of the madness.

First, this $320 (they have a lot of nerve) knock-off -- which was created by a New York company named eDressMe and available for pre-order in sizes 0 to 12 -- looks nothing, i repeat, nothing like the original.

And yet, I imagine it will show up on the bodies of many young high school girls this prom season. Especially those who have moms who are still made that their daughters never had a debutante ball.

Even funnier though, would be the description attached to the dress. It reads:

"This exquisite white gown by eDressMe has a chic one shoulder silhouette, with a drape dripping down the back. The square bodice is accented with sequined flowers and lace. Pleating under the empire waist allows the column skirt to flow gracefully down your frame. The skirt is dotted with sequined rosettes for glitter and shine. Perfect for any stylish formal affair."

Barney's Simon Doonan Says It All...

Yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama sky-rocketed seemingly unknown designers Isabel Toldeo (Designed Inaugural Swearing-in Outfit) and Jason Wu (Designed Inaugural Party Dress) from popular industry favorites to potential celebrity must-haves, which is great considering the two don't pay for any kind of major advertising and have relatively small businesses. While I'm sure Wu and Toldeo publicists are working overtime right now, Simon Doonan of Barneys has taken it upon himself to shine the spotlight on fellow New Yorker Isabel Toldeo by plastering this note on his store's homepage. Love it.

Speaking of First Lady Michelle Obama, more facts concerning her forthcoming Vogue cover have surfaced. Rumor has it the project was shot by the imitable Annie Lebovitz and centers around the concept of "dignified" oppose to "chic" because the latter wasn't relevant to AL's idea.

Hm. Maybe this means strong and iconic instead of soft curls and red lipstick. Meanwhile, the results from Michelle's run-in with Vogue are suppose (maybe?) to debut next month. - Stay tuned. [The Imagist]
