Financial crisis be damned.
Someone, somewhere is scooping up $5,000 Christopher Kane dresses left and right faithfully each week over at Net-a-porter. And to accommodate those types, the eCommerce site is now offering a premier delivery service.
This is how it works:
If you live in one of the "selected" zip codes in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens and place your order by 1pm, you will receive same-day delivery from the Net-a-Porter crew. But wait, there's more!
In addition to the delivery service (by the way, packages will arrive sometime between 10am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 12pm -5:30pm on Saturday and Sunday), there's a $25 flat rate for whatever you order as well as a discreet packaging option and free returns.
So, once you receive the alert via email that the much talked about Alexander Wang 'Coco' studded satchel is now available for purchase over at Net-a-Porter you'll be able to play with your new buy the same day you charge it on the plastic. Must...Will...Have to...Get that handbag.
I love Shopbop and I love their new denim collection, which is in collaboration with Madewell.
Madewell for Shopbop exclusively consists of denim -- although the knit pieces in the look book may be purchased over at Madewell's site -- and features ripped denim pants, shorts, and skirts as well as a vest, light jacket, and remarkably cute dark-washed jumper.
As far as prices go, the collection is fairly reasonable ($200 for ripped boyfriend jeans and $150 for the romper that has my name written all over it) considering the quality of the garments. Plus, we all know how long we'll hold on to a pair of jeans if they fit just right and can endure several washes.
Meanwhile, the Shopbop buyers have created a blog! So far, it features their reflections on New York Fashion Week, which might I add are very interesting because it seems as though they too get anxious at the big shows like Marc Jacobs.
In addition, they've documented all of their Fashion Week escapades and encounters with the designers whose pieces they undoubtedly plan on loading onto their front page come late summer for your enjoyment.
And yes, they're worth checking out. If only because you'll stumble upon things like a closer look at the now famous studded Alexander Wang bag, which by the way officially has a name: Coco, and a mini interview the Shopbop crew did with the wunderkind.
Okay, you have been officially brought up to speed on all things Shopbop. Now back to studying or work...
Dear Fall '09 Shoppers,
Do you see that bag hanging from Marry-Kate Olson's arm? You know, the studded one with the beautifully distressed black leather.
Well, it's made by everyone's favorite wunderkind Alexander Wang and it's from his upcoming fall '09 accessories collection.
Sure, Mr. Wang has sent every cool girl within the city of New York this bag just a couple of days before Fashion Week, guaranteeing tons of exposure for his label when they undoubtedly show up at all of the right shows and parties sporting it.
But look on the good side? You now know what you'll be coveting this fall seven months of ahead of schedule, which gives just enough time to save the entire $850 it takes to walk away with this piece legally from the stores.
