Yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama sky-rocketed seemingly unknown designers Isabel Toldeo (Designed Inaugural Swearing-in Outfit) and Jason Wu (Designed Inaugural Party Dress) from popular industry favorites to potential celebrity must-haves, which is great considering the two don't pay for any kind of major advertising and have relatively small businesses. While I'm sure Wu and Toldeo publicists are working overtime right now, Simon Doonan of Barneys has taken it upon himself to shine the spotlight on fellow New Yorker Isabel Toldeo by plastering this note on his store's homepage. Love it.

Speaking of First Lady Michelle Obama, more facts concerning her forthcoming Vogue cover have surfaced. Rumor has it the project was shot by the imitable Annie Lebovitz and centers around the concept of "dignified" oppose to "chic" because the latter wasn't relevant to AL's idea.

Hm. Maybe this means strong and iconic instead of soft curls and red lipstick. Meanwhile, the results from Michelle's run-in with Vogue are suppose (maybe?) to debut next month. - Stay tuned. [The Imagist]

Things aren't looking too good for Illinois congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. Or at least they aren't in the court of public opinion.

Late Friday afternoon, it was reported by the Chicago Tribune:

"Businessmen with ties to both the governor and U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. discussed raising at least $1 million for Blagojevich's campaign as a way to encourage him to pick Jackson for the job...

...Two businessmen who attended the meeting and spoke to the Tribune on the condition of anonymity said that Nayak and Blagojevich aide Rajinder Bedi privately told many of the more than two dozen attendees the fundraising effort was aimed at supporting Jackson's bid for the Senate."

Uh, yeah. But the crazy shiz doesn't stop there, folks! Jesse Jackson Jr., obviously not realizing how shady and unbelievable he appeared in his previous press conference about his "alleged" involvement in the Blagojevich scandal, decided to schedule another sit down. This time with CNN's Don Lemon (love that name).

It ain't trickin if you got it

Damn. We really didn't want to believe this one.

As everyone probably knows by now, the infamous Candidate #5 in Governor Blagjoveich's shakedown is none other than Jesse Jackson Jr.

The congressman held a press conference yesterday to repudiate and denounce any claims that suggested he knew of anyone working on his behalf to essentially buy President-Elect Barack Obama's Illinois senate seat.

Regardless if JJ Jr. knew anything about the hustle (we're kind of thinking he did) to get himself chosen for political promotion, his chances of getting picked whether by special election or tapped by someone not calling Barack a motherfucker is slim to none now.

Seriously. How could anyone working in Illinois politics be so brand new to Blagjoveich's schemes. JJ Jr., if involved, should have known better. The governor is remarkably corrupt as his tapped phone conversations reveal.

Admittedly, this isn't as strange as all of the commemorative plates, mugs, and t-shirts with her husbands beautiful mug on them. But Michelle Obama's election memorabilia is just as spectacularly cheesy as the aforementioned:

Avon, the makeup brand that no one over the age of 60 can live without, will release -- with the help of of former Mademoiselle editor Mandi Norwood -- a Michelle Obama Style Guide this spring:

"Not since Jackie O have we had a first lady become a fashion icon. Michelle Obama will be one of history's most vibrant first ladies; she has a distinctive style that every American woman can aspire to, whether the consumer is a Target shopper or some one more likely to be found on Miracle Mile."

Once again, people who generally tend to consume Avon products, more specifically, the people who would actually purchase this book, are typically the same people who do all of their clothing shopping on HSN: grandmas. And that demographic, by and large, didn't vote for Obama. Suckas.

Mike Huckabee Unleashed

Bitch fight! Mike Huckabee, former squirrel-eating Arkansas governor and current Fox News cable host, has just released his first post-election tome entitled Do The Right Thing: Inside the Movement That's Bringing Common Sense Back to America. Yeah, Spike probably is none to be pleased but we digress...

In the book, Huckabee straight molly whops former Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney, laying out a rather snarky indictment of the Mormon's not so conservative ways:

Huckabee writes that the former Massachusetts governor's record was "anything but conservative until he changed the light bulbs in his chandelier in time to run for president." He notes that Romney declined to make a phone call of congratulations after Huckabee beat the oddsmakers to win the Iowa caucuses, "which we took as a sign of total disrespect." He mocks Romney for suggesting, during one debate, more investment in high-yield stocks as a solution to economic woes. "Let them eat stocks!" Huckabee jokes.

And guess what? Mitt responded:

Asked to respond, Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said Huckabee was acting small.

"This type of pettiness is beneath Mike Huckabee," Fehrnstrom. "If we're going to move the party forward, we need to offer more than personal recriminations. Unfortunately, in this book, Mike Huckabee is consumed with presumed slights, and he seems more interested in settling scores than in bringing people together."
