I'm back! Alive! And not totally hating the discipline known as biology! Yes, the five week course that temporarily made me separate from this blog has finally come to an end and now I can show this site and its devoted readers (somewhat ridiculous commenters) the attention they both deserve.
To get back in the swing of things, I thought I would post this latest offering from Miss Balmain herself, Beyonce. Directed by Adria Petty, "Sweet Dreams" has everything in it that sparked a million wannabe performances on Youtube: fierce back-up dancers, impeccable fashion, and great choreography. Even B's golden "Singles Ladies" Barbarella-esque gear makes it return towards the end of the four minute mini film.
Meanwhile, Fox's widely-anticipated fall show, Glee, will feature a special performance of Beyonce's "Single Ladies. To find out more about, check out Marc Malkin's column at E!.
After dropping an amazing dance album and prancing around in front of the paparazzi wearing nothing more than leotards and Alice in Wonderland garb for a little over a year now, Lady Gaga was more than overdue for a cover of Rolling Stone.
However, what the tiny woman didn't deserve -- in no way, shape, or form might I add -- was the honor of looking like a fucking fool for her huge American publishing debut.
When the issue made its way into my mailbox this spring, I was absolutely floored. I couldn't believe that no one in her camp -- either friend or someone from the record label -- tapped her on the shoulder and said, "boo, please don't the bootleg Hussein Chaylan number anymore. You're better than that." Even better, "Gaga, Rihanna is one of your contemporaries. You need to drop the DIY and step it up."
The hair, the lips....it was too much.
No worries, though. It appears the fashion pros have finally decided to aid and abede Miss Gaga as she tries to take over the scene one peroxide wig at a time. Last Friday, V magazine threw up a behind-the-scenes clip of their forthcoming issue with the singer on its cover. While the mini video only acts as a mere teaser, it shows Nicola Formichetti wrapping the blonde in Givenchy and Balmain which should bode well for what the rest of the spread will look like.
Hopefully, Gaga Does High Fashion Shoot: Take Two turns out much better than the initially go around. Fingers crossed.
Still using the same computer graphics, Grammy-nominated singer Jazmine Sullivan has made a video for her single Dream Big. The track samples an old Daft Punk tune and is just simple amazing. Although, I don't know if there is anything Jazmine could belt out that wouldn't sound utterly amazing anyways. Enjoy. It's almost Friday, yay! Thank god!
Yesterday, Kanye West and pal Jared Leto (huh?) were in the studio making sweet music when The Killers' front man Brandon Flowers stopped by, wearing a great top: "I WAS WORKING ON THIS DOPE ASS SONG WITH JARED AND BRANDON STOPPED BY. I PLAYED THEM SOME OF THE NEW JEEZY BEATS AND BEFORE EVERYBODY BOUNCED BRANDON HOPPED ON THE KEYBOARD AND I HOPPED ON THE MPC. SHIT WAS DOPE. OH AND YES THOSE ARE SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS ON BRANDON'S SHIRT BY DRIES VAN NOTEN." Aw, Ye. If only my guy friends were as well versed in high fashion as you.
After posting an absurd amount on Twiiter about their forthcoming mixtape, the Star Trak duo behind Chester French have finally released Jacques Jams Vol 1: Endurance. And you know what? It's really, really good! It features appearances by everyone from Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles to Diddy and Talib Kweli. Even better, it's a compltetly free which means the money you would have dished out on this 25 track joint can be used to purchase the group's debut album, Love The Future, when it drops on April 21st.
