This past weekend, the Guardian put together a light-hearted in/out fashion list. Normally, when someone (editors) puts one of these together, all of last season's must-have pieces are strategically placed in the "out" column and all of the new expensive ish is conveintly placed in the "in" column.
However, the people over at Guardian kept it oh so real for us and I think we could agree with the majority of their "yays" and "nays:"
Going up: Lourdes Ciccone (Madonna's fashionable little daughter), sequins (ask Mr.Mickey), shirt dresses, Banana Republic's Martin shorts (I'll take their word for it), pedicures, and lavender scones.
Going Down: the fashion term 'Wardrobed by' (yup, that's annoying), sunglasses with colored frames, Keira Knightley on the cover of Vogue again (amen!), mini holiday products, Sienna Miller's scandalous behavior, and Rachel Zoe's new perfume.
See? There's not much here to argue over, but I think we can all agree that they left out a few other trends making us smile/cry this summer. My little list after the jump
Going Up: The CW, gold nail polish (Chanel, of course), Topshop (coming to NY in October), Alexander Wang, Elle magazine, and lomography.
Going Down: Ray Ban wayfarers (this has got to stop), MTV, the term 'diffusion line,' bizarre moccasin thong sandals, black nail polish, and unnecessary retro sneaker packs.
What are you loving, hating, somewhat feeling this summer? Show light.
