Lady Sings E.T.

Looking both parts throwback Diana Ross and futuristic society belle, IMG's Yasmine Warsame is giving everything in this Patti Wilson styled Italian Vogue Editorial. The edit with the Jil Sander number is my favorite. I love the play on the phrase "killer outfit."

Dooney & Bourke Undergoes Quiet Makeover

Dooney & Bourke Florentine Satchel

$358.00 by Dooney & Bourke at Dillard's

Is that a wait list I see for a Dooney & Bourke handbag?

Why yes it is!

According to the March issue of Vogue, D&B is going through a bit of a makeover, updating the structure of some of its most popular pieces.

The handbag generating the most buzz is the Florentine Vacchetta satchel (at left). If you close one eye and lean to your side, the beautiful bag bares a slight resemblance to Miu Miu's bow satchel. The Alto collection also received a makeover.

The move makes sense. With labels like Celine making simple, well-crafted leather hangbags popular again, those who can't afford to skip a rent payment are actively seeking more affordable options.

Fun fact: My first designer handbag was a Dooney & Bourke drawstring. I remember it fit comfortably over my shoulder and the leather was soft to the touch. I loved it and the company who brought it to fruition. But then one day, everything changed.

Those once coveted leather pieces that lined the shelves on D&B counters were replaced with awkward tartan and floral fabric creations. What happened? I don't know. But it's nice to see the company return to its roots. Are you excited about D&B's recent face lift?

Chic Music: Big K.R.I.T - Return4OfEva Mixtape

A few bars from Big K.R.I.T.'s Dreamin:

"In a class of my own, but I was scared to raise my arm / Like, this my dream, this my life, I sacrificed it all / Except my soul in the firm belief there is a God / Watching out, when all the others used to doubt / Felt my pain and pointed down and said “Son, your time is now”

I downloaded this mixtape yesterday and its been on repeat ever since. As a southerner, I love the Mississippi rapper's drawl and subsequent pronunciations of the words "god" and "money." It's just really, really good music.
